With the support of WASMO
(water & santitation management organisation),
Prayas is working towards the goal of making self depend on
drinking
water supply for their daily use and sanitation
of
the
rural community
of
21 villages of
Anjar
&
15 villages of
Rapar
of Kutchh and 15 villages of Surendranagar. Prayas is
one of WASMO’s project partner
of Kutchh & Surendranager
in an ambitious plan to
supply 1300 villages in Gujarat with water within a period
of 5 years.
The program places emphasis on development of complete water
and sanitation plan of the villages in cooperation with the
local communities to secure the future operation and
maintenance for the facilities. The local communities also
have to proof their commitment to the project by accepting
to finance 10% of the construction cost. Issues covered
under the programme ranges from personal hygiene and
environmental sanitation to securing a drinking water source
for the village.
