PROGRAMS:
HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCACY FOR SINGLE WOMEN, DISABLED & MOST
MARGINALIZED
This program contains the joint effort of three projects
with the local names Ekal Nari Shakti Manch, Sneh Samudaya
and Viklang Manch. It provides a platform for single women,
mentally and physically challenged, old aged and other
vulnerable groups to fight for their rights, express their
opinions and advocate policy changes. The program operates
in three different levels:
At village level, the volunteers identify the single women
and an local groups is formed. This body holds regular
meetings, to make the women aware about their various
rights, identifies problems and tries to solve those
problems. Those women who have leadership qualities take on
the day-to-day workings of the group.
At the block level, regular meetings are conducted once a
month and problems raised at the village level meetings are
discussed. Local groups are out into clusters depending on
the proximity of the villages. There are right now four such
clusters in the project area.
At the district level in Kutch, representatives from
different blocks meet every month and develop strategy for
larger advocacy.
