The main intention of the program is to educate the communities with little knowledge of health problems to reduce the spread of sexual transferred diseases (STD), especially HIV/AIDS, among the very backward and downtrodden communities of the urban pockets of Anjar. The program includes among other things information campaigns, condom demonstration, individual counseling sessions and town meetings.

This initiative was undertaken by PRAYAS after an HIV-positive person came to the organization seeking help. Following the incident, PRAYAS began to engage in HIV/AIDS prevention activities. The main thrust is today on educating the community about the disease. The financial support receives support from Gujarat State AIDS Control Society (GSACS) & technical support from Project Support Unit, which is involved in AIDS-related issues across Gujarat. The basic issues addressed under the initiative are:

The promotion of safe sexual practices and the minimization of the High Risk Behaviour (HRB) among the core groups- Commercial Sex Workers (CSW) & MSM.  

The creation of a movement on prevention of such diseases and more generally, on health (infection and pregnancy) and hygiene related issues.
